Bringing The Great Outdoors Indoors

TakeMeFishing.org has new games and activities to help kids and families learn about fishing from home

The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) is bringing the great outdoors indoors with new games and activities on TakeMeFishing.org that kids and families can enjoy from their living room couch, kitchen table, or by the light inside their blanket fort. Angler Academy brings fishing into peoples’ homes at a time when access to the outdoors is limited for some, and parents are in need of educational activities to keep kids busy.

“At a time when so much is uncertain, we want fishing and boating to remain a constant that we all can enjoy.” said RBFF President & CEO Frank Peterson. “Ultimately, when restrictions are lifted and Americans are able once again to recreate outdoors safely, we want fishing and boating to be one of the top considerations for families.”

Angler Academy is fully-online and accessible to anyone for free. An anthromorphic fish, named Bassador, guides users through fun activities like:

  • Fish habitat coloring
  • Connect the dots
  • Build-a-fish cutouts
  • Scavenger hunts
  • DIY fishing pole and lake
  • And a fishing card game that encourages users to take action

When visitors complete the games and activities, they can keep the learning going with additional fishing and boating how-to content and videos on TakeMeFishing.org. A new “stay at home” Take Me Fishing logo accompanies the Angler Academy and other home-centric content TakeMeFishing.org and its social media channels, providing consumers with information to help them enjoy fishing and boating activities safely from home.
