Grow Boating Fund Fattens

May 2006 News

The Grow Boating Rising Tide Fund recently received $180,000 in contributions, the National Marine Manufacturers Association announced last week.

Two GE business units - GE's commercial distribution finance and retail sales finance divisions - pledged $150,000 over a three-year period, and the Michigan Boating Industries Association pledged $30,000 over three years.

GE's contribution puts the company in the Double Platinum-Level category, while the MBIA's pledge makes it a Gold-Level contributor.

The MBIA previously contributed $19,200 to the initiative's start-up fund in 2004 and 2005.

Established in 2006, the Rising Tide Fund is a means by which companies can pledge voluntary contributions at varying levels to the initiative. The pledge commitment lasts for three years and can be made from $1 to $299,999.

The Grow Boating Initiative is an integrated effort to promote the boating lifestyle and improve the boating experience.
