Rock the Dock for Wounded Soldiers

July 2006 News

The National Marine Manufacturers Association is holding a charity event July 26 in Washington, D.C., to raise money for Team River Runner, a group that provides aquatic-based rehabilitation to wounded service members.

Proceeds will be used for whitewater boating offered to service members recuperating at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, and the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.

Since 2004 Team River Runner has helped wounded soldiers, sailors and disabled veterans recovering from injuries sustained in Afghanistan and Iraq.

"NMMA members are extremely proud of and grateful to all the men and women serving in our armed forces at home and around the world," Monita Fontaine, vice president of government relations, said in a statement. "This year we are encouraging our members to help our armed forces who bravely stand on the front lines every day by supporting this exciting, first-ever Rock the Dock charity event."

Formula Powerboats has signed on as the event's first corporate sponsor, contributing $2,500 and an additional $250 in Formula Gear merchandise.
