The Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation launched an expanded 'Where to Fish and Boat' locator, which identifies places to fish and boat in all 50 states.
With a database of more than 10,000 locations, visitors can access all the information they'll need to quickly and easily plan a day on the water.
"We want people to know that fishing and boating is easy and accessible, even for today's often overscheduled family," said Frank Peterson, Jr., president of RBFF.
The "Where to Fish and Boat" feature on www.takemefishing.org lets visitors search the Take Me Fishing database for destinations located within a short drive of any city or zip code. Search results are compiled and paired with fishing license information, local regulations, fishing reports and other local fishing and boating information, all on one page.
To help families plan a day of fishing, takemefishing.org tapped the expertise of state wildlife agencies and outdoor writers to identify the top three destinations located near major cities across the country. Each of these places is designated as a Family Fishing Hot Spot. These places to fish and boat are close enough for a day trip and offer conveniences for families, including parking, bathrooms, shore access, boat ramps and an abundance of fish.
Each Family Fishing Hot Spot entry provides detailed information about the location. Families can learn about the species of fish, the best times to go and the family-friendly amenities offered at each destination. Each entry also helps identify the best fishing holes within each hot spot and the top techniques recommended for catching various species.
