"I am incredibly proud of this workforce," said Patrick Mackey, president of Mercury Marine, in a statement. "Their quest for excellence is apparent in every aspect of this facility's operation-from their world-class safety record to the outstanding quality of their products."
In conjunction with this award, Brunswick will donate $10,000 on behalf of Juarez employees to a charitable organization of their choice. The workers chose to donate the award to Fondo Unido, an organization similar to the United Way.
To date, Mercury's Juarez employees have achieved more than 1.75 million hours without a lost-time incident. It is forecasted that they will reach 2 million hours with no lost-time incidents by the third week of November.
The Juarez plant has been a part of Mercury Marine for 28 years and employs 800 people. It supplies wire harnesses built into almost every Mercury outboard and MerCruiser engine. The plant also accommodates a growing list of external wire harness customers, including Sea Ray, Boston Whaler, US Marine, HarrisKayot, Rinker, Life Fitness exercise equipment and Mototron electronics.
