Halifax International Boat Show running Feb. 19-22

The Halifax International Boat Show, the largest boat show in Eastern Canada, runs Feb. 19-22 at Exhibition Park in Halifax.

Exhibited boats range in size from six feet to over 30 feet and include runabouts, cruisers, motor yachts, sail boats, sailing dinghies, pontoon boats, bass boats, inflatables, RIBS, canoes, kayaks, and personal water craft.

There are exhibits of marine equipment, marine engines, diesel, gas, outboard and inboard, of marine electronics and marine accessories, of docks and dock builders.

Marine chandleries also bring their stores to this show. The show is billed as a great time to buy a boat as dealers and manufacturers offer great show specials.

Show hours for the 2009 show are:

Thursday, Feb. 19 - 12 noon - 9:00 p.m. ?

Friday, Feb. 20 -10 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. ?

Saturday, Feb. 21 - 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ?

Sunday, Feb. 22 - 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Admission is $10 for adults; $8 for students and seniors and children under 10 are free when accompanied by an adult. Weekend passes can also be purchased for $20.

In addition to the displays there are also a discover boating centre, seminars and entertainment. As well, a silent auction will be held to raise funds for the IWK Health Centre Foundation. This event takes place Friday, Feb. 20 from 6:30-8 p.m. It will be an auction of marine equipment and nautical accessories.
