The South Carolina Marine Association is encouraging marine professionals to register for its Winter Marine Education Conference, scheduled for March 11-12.
So far the association has only received two pledge forms for the Clean Marina workshop for recertification and new applicants. The SCMA notes that the workshop is now mandatory for the Clean Marina designation.
The conference agenda begins with a welcome address by SCMA president Bob Pilcher. Other presenters include Jeannie Adame, environmental affairs for the South Carolina State Ports Authority; Paul Craufurd from ValvTect Marine Fuels on ethanol; the Renewable Fuels Association; and state Sen. Ray Cleary. The lineup for the second day of the conference includes Valerie Ziebron, Yamaha University; David Joyner, Clemson Extension; the Environmental Protection Agency; and Scott Meister, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
The Clean Marina workshop begins Thursday afternoon.
