Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Mich., plans to visit the Four Winns' plant in Cadillac today as part of his "100 Jobs" initiative, in which he will perform 100 Michigan jobs to stress the importance of economic development and job creation as he runs for governor.
Recently acquired by holding company Platinum Equity, Four Winns has ramped up production and hired back more than 100 workers laid off last year because of the economic downturn.
Four Winns was also recently awarded a tax-credit package by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the Cadillac Industrial Fund. The Four Winns plant also produces Glastron and Wellcraft boats.
Hoekstra will work in the boat assembly area of the Four Winns facility.
"Four Winns is a great Michigan-based manufacturer that produces quality boats," Hoekstra said in a statement. "I've been very familiar with the company over the years since they are located in my district. I'm looking forward to being an employee for a day and working side-by-side with the hard-working men and women at the company."
"Four Winns is proud to have been part of the Cadillac community for over three decades," Four Winns president Jeff Olson said in a statement. "We look forward to creating many more local jobs in upcoming years as we continue to tap into Michigan's excellent work force."
