Retail sales continue to climb

Retail sales rose 1.6 percent last month, the largest increase since November.

The report from the U.S. Commerce Department details a greater-than-expected increase, and economists note its the latest sign that consumer spending is rising fast enough to support a modest economic recovery.

Sectors ranging from clothing retailers to car dealers all reported gains.
