The Brownback amendment, which would have exempted boat, auto and RV dealers from the oversight of a new consumer financial protection agency, failed to gain inclusion in a bill that will overhaul the country's system of financial regulation.
However, Senate Republicans plan to seek a separate vote on a non-binding motion Monday to instruct House and Senate negotiators to include the dealer exclusion in the final bill, according to media reports.
