Is water getting inside your outboard motor cover?

Is lake water getting inside your outboard motor cover? Even worse, Is saltwater getting inside your outboard motor cover? Have you ever had rusty sparkplugs or corroded electrical wires under the engine cover cowling? I battled this for years until I eliminated the source of the problem. In this video you will see virtually no spray touching the motor cover. I eliminated the problem by covering up the portion of the metal in the shape of a "V" that was cutout in the motor mounting pod hull. Riviera Cruiser pontoon boats are infamous for having this vee cutout in the bottom of the motor mount pod. This cutout lets water spray upwards on the motor cover from underneath.
