Governing body hands out environmental award

The Union Internationale Motonautique, the world governing body for powerboating activities, announced that its 2010 Environmental Award winner is the Long Range 23 by Mochi Craft-Hybrid Propulsion with Zero Emission Mode from Ferretti Group-AYT Advanced Yacht Technology.

The trophy will be presented Saturday at the annual UIM Awards Giving Gala at the Salle des Etoiles in Monaco.

"The launch of the UIM Environmental Award has been a great success and demonstrates how the UIM cares about the environment," UIM president Raffaele Chiulli said in a statement. "As president of the Union Internationale Motonautique, I would like to outline how important is the environment for our sport and how powerboating can promote environmentally friendly behaviors and technologies."
