BoatUS promotes watersports insurance policy

March 2011 News
Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) is offering a new insurance package for watersports enthusiasts.

The "Watersports Package" provides up to $5,000 in watersports equipment losses for  things like skis, boards, scuba equipment and towed inflatables. The rider costs $30 and is added to an existing policy.

"We've upped this number because today's watersports enthusiast carries a wide variety of expensive equipment on board," said BoatUS Vice President of Underwriting Mike Pellerin. "And unfortunately, many insurers leave out this critical coverage, offer only a minimal amount, or require you to ask for it, which is not very helpful."

Also included in the policy: refunds a wakeboarding or waterskiing competition entry fee up $500 if you are forced to withdraw because your boat and/or trailer has been damaged by a covered loss.

This is one of several boat-specific policies available from BoatUS.
