Race car builder enters the marine industry

December 2011 News

Paul Daigrepont had worked in the race car business much of his adult life, but then the downturn hit and he decided it was time to make a change.

So he bought a small boat-stand manufacturing business from Ohio, moved it to North Carolina, and CRC Marine Supply was born.

"During the downturn I was in the race car business and it simply stopped," he told Soundings Trade Only. "It seemed that most people I knew in the marine industry were up and down, but it never really stopped. Plus, I've always wanted to be in the marine industry, so I figured it was time to reinvent myself."

Daigrepont said the company he bought was Bill's Prop Shop in Sandusky. The owners were looking to close the business, so the timing was right.

Although he's in the process of building the company's product line, Daigrepont said CRC also plans to take part in upcoming Mid-Atlantic boat shows.

"We are also looking to set up dealers and distributors across the U.S. and plan to start marketing in that direction this spring," he added.
