January 2012 News

NEW YORK - The New York Boat Show, the granddaddy of all boat shows, opens January 4-8 at the Javits Center packed wall to wall with the latest boats and boating accessories.

According to the show promoters, nearly 50,000 New Yorkers are expected to head to the New York Boat Show that also features interactive education offerings for enthusiasts of all ages. Lifelong boaters and those just discovering the boating lifestyle have the unique chance to shop and compare boats side by side to find competitive deals on everything from luxury motor yachts and sport fishers to performance boats, fishing and watersports gear, boating clubs and vacations, marine electronics, and thousands of boating accessories.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS:
Affordable entry-level fishing, pontoon & cruising boats: While recreational boating in the U.S. is perceived to be an activity for the affluent, research shows that 83% of boat owners have a household income under $100,000, and an estimated 95% of boats on the water today are 26 feet or less. Yamaha, one of the leading manufacturers in the 19? to 25? category, is unveiling six new affordable models at the show starting at $24,999.

Power Boat Docking Challenge: New and experienced boaters will become more confident behind the helm at the Power Boat Docking Challenge. This interactive experience pits show participants against one another as they compete against the clock. Participants will steer and dock a 4?, twin engine, remote-controlled powerboat from an actual life-size boat helm then down a 20? pool into a slip at a marina.

Meet & Greet Discovery Channel's Swamp Brothers, Patrick Star from SpongeBob SquarePants: Meet Robbie & Stephen Keszey, from Discovery Channel's hit show Swamp Brothers, to get the inside scoop on life within Florida's largest exotic reptile sanctuary, plus bring the kids to see Patrick Star from SpongeBob SquarePants.
