PDB TESTED No. 133: GuideLine Eyegear

Published in the March 2013 Issue March 2013 News Roy Sparks

Years ago I invested in a pair of prescription sunglasses that didn’t seem quite right. Whatever I was focused on looked good, but the wrap-around design gave me a headache because the rest of my view was slightly out of focus.

But when I came across the Wake sunglasses from GuideLine Eyegear that is not only prescription-capable, but also polarized, I decided it was time to try again. I’m pleased to report that these sunglasses are as good as advertised. Great custom-like fit, great view and if you have your prescription card from your optometrist, everything can be done simply online.

I specifically went with this model because the Wake features optimal coverage in a frame designed for wide head widths. The Wake provides total eye coverage for anyone spending large amounts of time on the water. Locking hinges, rubberized temples and nosepads all featured in a design that's highly wearable and functional.

GuideLine frames and all lens tints are made to order with your prescription and start at $169. However, I was able to get mine on sale for $126.75 off their website. Of course if you don’t need prescription sunglasses the company offers a wide range of stylish sunglasses at a lower cost, but it was the prescription part that I like the most and I’m glad I went with GuideLine Eyegear this time around.
