What advice would you give someone who is in the market for his first boat?
[Louis Outz] Hang as much horsepower on it as your finances will allow.
[Brian Sheridan] I agree with Louis, don't leave any horsepower on the table
[Mike Barnstable] Buy used, so you get used to driving and DOCKING!
[Mark Bates] Have a son-in-law who is a certified marine tech.
[Travis Martin] Like buying a car, test drive it first.
[Jim Buday] As a Newbie myself, the best advice I can offer is to know someone who has gone through it all before and can advise you about what you need like ropes, anchors, etc. Then get ready for the time of your life as no matter how much fun you think it will be, it will be more fun.
[Randy Fair] Buy your second boat first.
[Craig Trayer] Make sure you have enough horsepower with your engine. No one ever complains about having too much horsepower!
[Raul Rio] Try different boats with varying configuration. More power is better. Take a boating course and don't leave a chart plotter or depth sounder behind.
