Well, peeps, they've certainly done it again. I know we say that every year, but pontoon manufacturers continue to make these boats better. This past September, our team traveled to Lake Wawasee in Syracuse, Ind., to test 27 different pontoon and deck boats from the top boat builders in the country. We've compiled all the reviews in our special Shootout issue, which will be hitting your mailboxes shortly. If you don't want to wait that long, check out our special Shootout videos that are live on our site now.

A good time was had by all, especially for my co-worker, Chris, and me. The two of us made up TEAM CONSUMER, which meant we took the boats out on to the lake and wrote down everything good and bad about each. Since I refuse to be negative about something that costs the equivalent to a down payment on a house, we tag teamed it. I wrote down everything that I loved, which was a lot. He wrote down everything that he didn't like. Needless to say, we were quite the crew.
Can I be honest here? Sometimes we weren't the best crew. We tested the Starcraft pontoon on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The kind of afternoon that makes me think it would be okay to drop everything and move to Indiana. It's was that nice. So we took the boat out and relaxed on the dual rear loungers for a good two hours. Every time a co-worker would cruise by, we would jump up and take out our clipboards so it looked like we were working. As soon as they were out of site, we went back to relaxing. I only tell you this so that when you read about Starcraft's comfortable seating, you know it's the truth.
The next day we didn't want to give the JC Manufacturing boat back. It had a JL Audio system that we were way too busy taking full advantage of. Chris taught me what "twerking" looked like since I didn't know. Sadly, I might never be able to erase that image from my mind. But if you can afford a JC Manufacturing pontoon with a JL system on your boat, DO IT. You won't regret it.
If you want to see Chris twerking, watch the video below. It's shaky because I was laughing so hard. Just be warned that you might never get the mental image out of your head.
I haven't told any of co-workers this yet but I'm going to publish some behind the scenes photos right here. View them before they make me take them down. We love what we do and we are so grateful for all of you that make it possible. We are also extremely thankful for Evinrude, Mercury and Honda, who sponsored the Barrel Race and helped make the event a super success.
2015 will mark the 20th anniversary of our PDB Shootout and we've already started planning it. I can't tell you much yet but you, the consumer, will want to mark your calendar when we announce the dates. That's all for now.
