Patrickcudd: I've owned a couple of boats in my life, but I decided to get a family boat. I just signed the papers on a 2014 Silverwave 20-foot boat with a 90hp four-stroke outboard. My wife and I wanted different things so we compromised to a custom-built one that is lounging in the front and fishing in the back. This will be my first pontoon so do you all have any advice on anything I might need or add?
cdoc: I am guessing you have a full canvas top, which adds so much versatility. Add-ons really depend on when, where and how you plan to use it. For example, on the St. Lawrence where we are, a Lowrance is a must due to shoals and weather issues.
Have a blast with you new boat. I am betting you and your wife will love it.
Razorbackfan74: Always a good idea to have a couple essential spares: prop and nut, battery, spark plugs, fuses (if equipped), etc. Some basic hand tools and know-how have saved my family’s weekend more than once.
mave234: A dual battery is a great idea. If it’s not too late, add a third toon and a changing room.
