Stetson No Fly Zone: PDB TESTED No. 167

April 2015 PDB Tested Brady L. Kay

Anyone with an adventurous spirit and a love of the open air knows the risks associated with insect bites. But when it comes to protecting the head from the ravages of hungry bugs, an effective solution is now at hand thanks to the cloth hats and No Fly Zone fabric from Burlington Labs. The hats from Dorfman Pacific brand Stetson are proven to repel mosquitoes, ticks, ants, chiggers, flies and midges, and will carry on doing so, with absolutely no effort on the part of their wearers, through 70 washings.

The No Fly Zone nylon fabric used in the group of Stetson hats features a patented, odorless and invisible insect repellent technology that incorporates a permethrin-permeated layer. The Stetson hats with No Fly Zone technology come in a neutral Kaki color, and in shapes to suit every faceā€”and, with three sizes (M, L, XL) to choose from, they fit, and look good on, both men and women. We tested out the STC198, which is a mesh safari with chin cord, has a large 3.5-inch brim and retails for around $30.
