Trade Only Today brings word that the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) will move forward with its plans for the Miami International Boat Show to take place at the Marine Stadium and Basin grounds regardless of the likelihood of a mediation agreement with those who oppose the plan. The show is scheduled to take place February 11-15.
The dispute between Miami and the Key Biscayne suburb has been ongoing, according to Trade Only Today. Key Biscayne officials opposed moving the NMMA event to the Virginia Key marine stadium site due to concerns over floating docks, traffic, and environmental sensitivity. Despite the uncertainty over the future location of the Miami International Boat Show, organizers and city officials have assured everyone that the event will still take place in years to come.
“It would be great if the city and village can come to an agreement, but we want the Miami Marine Stadium to be a long-term venue,” reported Ellen Hopkins, a spokeswoman for the National Marine Manufacturers Association. To read more, click here.
