At a special event in Milwaukee over the weekend, Bombardier Recreational Products showed off four new outboard models in the Evinrude E-TEC G2 line, the G2 150, 150 H.O. (high output), 175 and 200. BRP president and CEO Jose Boisjoli and Alain Villemure, vice president and general manager of BRP’s Marine Propulsion Systems division announced that the company is planning to update their remaining engines to the G2 technology over the next three to five years.
Villemure said, “Our Evinrude E-TEC G2 technology is now the benchmark for outboard engines. By expanding this award-winning product line to lower-horsepower models, even more consumers can benefit from the industry-leading performance of the Evinrude E-TEC G2. From bass to pontoon, center console to aluminum fishing, freshwater to saltwater, the revolution is here.”
Also announced at the event was the Evinrude E-link, a new virtual dashboard that lets boaters use their mobile device to see and directly control engine features. E-Link shares engine data over an NMEA 2000 network using WiFi to any Android or iOS device. The data shown mirrors the data that the onboard ICON Touch displays show, such as fuel levels, battery voltage, engine RPMs, trim position and more.
