They Found What In Lake Of The Ozarks?

September 2016 News Web Exclusive

Find any surprises at the Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., recently? According to KY3 News, the Kelley family did! While swimming off the dock this past Sunday, Taylor Kelley saw what she initially thought was plastic floating in the water. When she and her brother Elijah got a closer look, however, they realized the truth.

"It was a clear jellyfish, about the size of a quarter, and I was like, that's not real. It's a jellyfish in the lake," Elijah reported to KY3 News.

Their father, Brian, was equally disbelieving at first.

"I've lived here all my life, and I've never seen a freshwater jellyfish and, by golly, they had a few. They caught three of them," he said.

If you didn’t know, the U.S. Geological Survey reported that freshwater jellyfish live in bodies of water across 44 states, including Lake of the Ozarks apparently. Though spotting one might come as a shock, these ethereal creatures aren’t considered a threat to swimmers.
