Last month Mercury Marine hosted a COVID-19 vaccine event at its global headquarters to provide employees the opportunity to receive the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
All local Mercury Marine employees were eligible to register for a vaccine appointment, which was provided by third party vaccinator iHP on a first-come, first-served basis. In all, more than 160 shots were distributed. As the Moderna vaccine is a two-dose process, all employees who received the vaccine will return May 22 to receive a second dose.
“Our number one priority remains the health and safety of our employees and their families,” said Jim Sutton, Mercury director of Occupational Health and Safety. “Although we aren’t requiring employees to get the vaccine, we want to make the opportunity available to them and make it as easy as possible.”
“We are thrilled at the turnout for the COVID-19 vaccine event and thank our employees and volunteers for their effort,” said Andres Gonzalez, Mercury Marine vice president of human resources. “We will continue to offer opportunities for our employees to get vaccinated whether at events on campus or providing them information to get vaccinated away from the office. Those who attended the event were very thankful for the opportunity and we look forward to welcoming them back for their second shot in four weeks.”
Additional on-site Mercury vaccination events are planned for the near future, depending on vaccine availability.
