PDB Tested: Seamax Marine Electric Air Pump

An electric pump you can store onboard

Published in the October 2023 Issue June 2024 PDB Tested, Feature PDB Staff Report

What's the quickest way to disappoint a boat-load of children? Try relying on a “vintage” air pump that is held together with electric tape to inflate your water toys. Lesson learned. We knew we were pressing our luck each time we used our old pump to air up the tubes, but when we're in prime boating season we sometimes find ourselves just getting by with what we have. When our pump gave up the ghost at the worst possible time, we decided to invest in a permanent solution and find an electric pump we could keep on board our pontoon and not have to worry about a failure again.

Positive feedback and reviews while searching online led us to the Seamax Marine website and we were immediately drawn to its SUP16DB Electric Air Pump. The double stage 16 psi portable pump is ideal for inflating towables, SUPs, small boats and anything else you might have when out on the water.

The DC electric air pump can be powered by its built-in 6AH lithium battery after charging or through a standard external 12-volt charger socket found on most boats. If your boat doesn't have a 12-volt, clips are included to hook up directly to your boat's battery.

The pump is designed to quickly reach and automatically stop at the pre-set air pressure you select. During the inflating process, the LCD screen displays the inflatable product’s real-time air pressure. The deflation port helps to quickly deflate the air chamber for easy folding and compact size storage as well. Other unique features include a built-in LED flashlight and two USB charging ports, along with a travel case to keep the pump and accessories all organized.

Priced at $169 we found a lot of value in this pump and would recommend it to anyone looking for an extremely versatile pump that truly makes inflating your water toys as simple as pressing a button.
