PDB Tested: Toadfish Rod and Reel

A winning combo creates the ultimate fishing setup

Published in the April 2024 Issue September 2024 PDB Tested, Feature Roy Sparks

The definition of a combination is something created by joining or mixing two or more people or things together. In this case, the Rod & Reel Spinning Combo from ToadFish come together to create the ultimate fishing setup.

We recently tested the 2000 Carbon Sealed System reel that is paired with the 6-foot, 8-inch medium light rod and instantly loved the ergonomic handle design with soft-touch rubber inlays. ToadFish is patenting its comfort control grips so really that's all you need to know about how unique it is.

We do the majority of our fishing on freshwater lakes, but it's nice to know the salt-tough construction means it's as versatile as it is durable. The IPX5 sealed system includes seals that are strategically placed on the drag, rotor, and body to keep water out and years of fishing magic in.

The combo retails for $150, which is quite impressive and we see a lot of added value with this setup and feel a lot of other anglers will too.
