The Michigan Boating Industries Association gave U.S. Rep. Candice Miller, R- Mich., the 2010 Mayor's Cup Award for her career in public service and advocacy on behalf of Michigan's water resources, fisheries and boating industry.
"Congresswoman Miller has consistently supported boating-related events and programs such as the Detroit Boat Show and Michigan's Clean Marina program and has given a voice to many important marine industry issues, such as Asian Carp, water access and water quality, which benefits the entire state of Michigan," MBIA president Van Snider said in a statement.
The MBIA Mayor's Cup is presented each year to a group or individual in Michigan that has made an outstanding contribution to the recreational boating industry.
Miller also received the honor in 1998, when she was secretary of the state.
"I have made protecting Michigan's waters, our world-renowned recreational boating industry and the health of the marine industry a lifelong priority," Miller said in a statement. "I want to thank the MBIA board, staff and members for this recognition and will continue to advocate for the protection of our waters and marine industry."
