A trip up the Taieri River did not go to plan for a group of jet-boaters yesterday after they ended up having to paddle back downstream.
The group of four hit a snag when their boat clipped a rock, cutting power to the engine, driver Mark Davie said.
After they were overdue for their planned return, police were called and search and rescue co-ordinator Senior Sergeant Brian Benn was prepared for action.
However, he was pleased the group was safe, and able to have a "dry day".
He asked others planning on enjoying waterways over the long weekend to be prepared, carry all necessary equipment, wear life vests, and stay safe.
