Essay Winner Pushes For Environment

October 2006 News

"Good deeds, on land and at sea, tend to reap the greatest rewards," wrote Susann Wandrey of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, winner of the Centek Industries National Marina Day essay contest. Centek awarded $100 to Wandrey for her answer to the question, "What am I doing to be an environmentally conscious boater?"

As a corporate sponsor of National Marina Day, Centek's essay contest rewarded those taking action to protect recreational waters from pollution. Wandrey, in her essay, said boaters should be held accountable for waterway conditions. She encourages recycling, selecting responsible cleaning products, and practicing proper fuel and oil handling.

"After reviewing all the entries, Susann's was the best example of how to safeguard the fragile marine environment," said Centek product manager Tony Watson, in a statement. "We hope her essay inspires others to do the same."

Employing MYCELX technology, Centek supplies a complete environmental marine line. The company said its pollution prevention; spill response and filtration products successfully absorb fuel, oil, PCBs and chlorinated solvents from the water. The company is based in Thomasville, Ga.
