Premier Shares Industry Secret

February 2015 News Web Exclusive

Everyone here at PDB is glad to hear this bit of exciting news: Premier Marine is sharing their trade secret to help prevent spreading invasive species. Trade Only Today reports that the Minnesota-based boat builder has been using this secret design for years and is ready to share the technique with the rest of the industry.

John Deurr, an engineer at Premier, told ABC 5 News, “We did use it for a marketing advantage for a long time. Now we’re telling the world.”

The secret? Premier seals the normally open-ended strakes at the bottom of their aluminum pontoons. This prevents invasive aquative species from getting inside the strakes.

This is an awesome step towards better protecting the waters we all enjoy and is an objective the PDB team is more than happy to applaud!
