Spincasting

March 2016

It' s safe to say that most anglers got their start using a rod fitted with a simple reel that required nothing more than the push of a thumb to release the line and a twist of the wrist to recover it and reel it back in. Called “  spincast”   reels, these hybrids combined the best features of the two most common reel categories at the time: spinning and baitcasting. The simple-to-use spincast reels that entered the market in the late 1940s also brought casting ease to the masses in the mid-50s and made fishing a mainstream outdoor activity.
