I’m guessing most truck owners would prefer a locking hitch pin, unless you live in a town where no one bothers to lock their front door because all the neighbors trust each other. For lack of a better term, all receiver hitches have a little “slop” to them. The 5/8-inch diameter pin takes the movement out of the connection between the vehicle towing system and the device being towed.
