ACB, Yanmar, MerCruiser benefit from Coast Guard contract

May 2010 News

Aluminum Chambered Boats was awarded a $37.7 million, five-year contract to provide the Coast Guard with up to 80 transportable port security boats.

The high-performance vessels will be powered by twin 315-hp Yanmar diesels with Bravo X-1 outdrives and will replace the Coast Guard's current aging inventory, the company said.

The vessels will be operated in coastal areas throughout the world and are capable of running in as little as 24 inches of water or safe operation in 10-foot seas.

"ACB is very proud of our ability to successfully respond to the U.S. Coast Guard's requirements," said Kelly Webb, executive vice president of government sales, in a statement. "Our successful selection is attributed to the tireless dedication of our in-house government team, [product development and environmental study], and production as well as the company's proven commitment to support our products and customers once our vessels are fielded."
