Access in Pinellas?

June 2006 News

Pinellas County, Fla., officials have again entered into an agreement to buy a resort for the use of its boat ramp and access to St. Joseph Sound.

The county commission voted last Thursday to pay $3.8 million for the Palm Harbor Resort, which includes a pool, rental cottages, a bait shop and RV park.

The commissioners, however, are most interested in its boat ramp to add access points for Pinellas County boaters.

It is the second agreement county officials signed this week in an attempt to add access points.

Earlier in the week it entered into an agreement to purchase the Belle Harbour Marina in Tarpon Springs for $3.6 million. The marina has 110 dry storage units and 18 wet slips.

Neither deal is final as the county has 45 days to inspect the properties.
