PDB Forum Member Spotlight: Tooner

August 2014 Forum Member Spotlight Web Exclusive

We love our forum members here at Pontoon and Deck Boat magazine and we enjoy getting to know them better. Today we are highlighting Tooner, aka Bob Sokoly. Parts of his interview is in our September issue of PDB magazine and the rest can be found on our forum page

1. What kind of boat do you currently own?

A 2009 Avalon pontoon.

2. What is your favorite thing about it?

Relaxing and enjoying myself with family and friends.

3. What is the must-have boating accessory?

The best thing you can have is a great cooler to keep the drinks chilled and a grill for barbecues.

4. How long have you been boating?

started boating at 14 years old when I was given my grandfather’s mahogony runabout. When I received it, it was in poor shape. It had sunk and then was left sitting for some time. I took the boat and did a full restoration with my dad. It was pretty cool going for gas in the boat and having people come out and comment on how great the boat looked. It only had a 35 hp Mercury on it but to my 14-year-old self, that boat flew.

Where do you typically boat?

Greenwood Lake in New Jersey. Greenwood Lake is half in New Jersey and half in New York.
