Encore Boat Builders, manufacturer of the Bentley Encore pontoon, purchased the assets and the name rights of the Sundancer pontoon boat company, Encore announced.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, although it was a cash purchase, Encore CEO Steve Deese told Soundings Trade Only this morning.
"It had a good name and a good reputation and we want to continue that," he said. "Sundancer will be a real bonus to our company and will increase our market exposure greatly."
Production of Sundancer is moving from Lebanon, Mo., to Encore's new 100,000-square-foot plant in Lexington, S.C., Deese said. Manufacturing is expected to begin in January.
"This purchase will allow Encore to begin their growth plans for expanding in the pontoon market with an entirely new pontoon line," the company said in a statement. "Encore has had an increase in production this year by 50 percent and has doubled their dealer network in the last year."
Encore sold the assets of Duracraft Marine in October to concentrate on its pontoon business, Deese said.
