Two GOP senators oppose ethanol tax credits

December 2010 News

Sens. James Inhofe, R-Okla., and Susan Collins, R-Maine, are encouraging Senate majority leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., not to extend tax credits for the ethanol industry, the National Marine Manufacturers Association reports.

Inhofe is the ranking member of the Committee on Environment and Public Works. Collins is the ranking member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

In a Dec. 6 letter, the senators note that in light of the EPA's partial waiver decision on E15 "there are growing concerns that the increased use of biofuels may cause damage to millions of vehicle, boat and small-engine devices that were not designed to be used with these higher blends."
