Aqua Patio 240 Sun Lounger
Our First Impression
Some would argue that it's the dual rear-facing lounges in
the stern that help make this boat so appealing, while others would say it's
the stylish railing and two-tone side panels that first grab your attention. As
for us, we like the hidden amenities and overall design.
Consumer Test
On this new 24-footer, Aqua Patio wanted to make sure the
seats were as comfortable as they looked. Mission
accomplished. For years the exclusive vinyl has been a staple for all Godfrey
Marine pontoons, but the foam has been reengineered for 2011. Combined with the
deep seatbacks, it's a difference you'll appreciate.
To maximize the sound-quality on the Jensen stereo, the
angled speakers have been strategically placed to give you an amphitheater feel
while onboard. There is even a storage spot on the side of the helm station to
not only plug in your MP3 player, but also store it.
At the elevated helm station is a comfortable chair that was
made for a king, not a captain. Fully adjustable, the reclining helm seat with
movable arms has a nice, tall seatback that provides plenty of comfort to match
the rest of the seats on this Aqua Patio.
We like the easy-to-read gauges and the well-labeled rocker
switches, and overall we feel this is a very sporty and attractive-looking helm
console.
The two chaise lounges in the bow (with dual trash cans
hidden well below) are only upstaged by the setup in the stern. The two
rear-facing lounges are very comfortable and the optional stereo remote is a
nice added touch. The fiberglass base for these lounges provides a great storage
option in the stern. Below one lounge is a pop-up changing room enclosure that
you just step into after lifting the cushion, and it's nearly five feet tall
when opened. If we had to be picky, the changing room isn't the easiest to
operate and we didn't like how the curtain comes in contact with the battery
that is also located here. A battery cover or relocating the changing room to
the other lounge storage area might be better options.
Outside the rear gate is a large, carpeted swim deck that
has a nice back porch feel to it. The angled ladder for easier access from the
water is a nice bonus and there is even a pop-up ski/tow bar.
Inspection Test
Two 25-inch diameter chambered pontoons are the solid base
for this craft. The cross-members are on 17-inch centers and are screwed to the
plywood deck. Overall we found no dangerous or sharp edges below, including the
splash guards that are well protected.
Above deck the patent-pending gate latch is very secure and
easy to use. We love the layout and design of this boat and the rails and gates,
at 24 inches tall, are just big enough to still be considered safe and
family-friendly. The craftsmanship is good as well as the fit and finish work.
Performance Test
With the Yamaha 115 four-stroke we were flirting with speeds
around the 25 mile per hour mark at full throttle. She leans slightly in the
turns and for a two-logged pontoon we were impressed by how well it handled.
Who Should Buy It
With the inviting layout, comfortable seating and an overall
fun design, there are a lot of people who will be able to appreciate this new
Aqua Patio. Built to cruise and just relax, this 24-footer has a lot going for
it.
