PDB TESTED No. 151: Wilson Electronics

Published in the September 2013 Issue September 2013 PDB Tested

It’s a little embarrassing just how dependent we’ve become on our cell phones. How we ever managed to meet up with friends before cell phones came along still amazes me. Right or wrong, we live and die by our mobile phones and I always have a problem with reception when I head to this particular lake near my house. I like the idea of no one being able to reach me when I’m fishing, but it sure is a pain when I’m trying to meet up with friends coming to the lake and the signal is too weak to receive calls.

So when I heard about the Cell Booster Kit for marine use from Wilson Electronics, I knew I needed to give it a try. Wilson Electronics, one of North America’s leading makers of cellular signal boosters, has a new signal booster kit that improves cellular coverage for boaters on inland waterways and for near-shore mariners. The Marine Signal Booster Kit pairs Wilson’s well-established AG SOHO 60 signal booster with its marine antenna, and includes all the cables and components needed to complete and install the system.

The install is easy and is designed not to clutter up your helm stand, which is important to me. Obviously every pontoon is different, so location placement for the different components will vary, but in the end I was just impressed by how well it worked. The kit has a couple of different options so prices will vary.

All Wilson products are engineered, assembled and tested at the company's U.S.-based headquarters and that’s important to me as well.

If you’re tired of fighting a weak signal onboard, it’s time to give Wilson Electronics a call.
