West Marine begins "Do It Yourselfie!" promotion

March 2015 News Web Exclusive

Just the other day we were telling you about West Marine's New Product Review Day. Well, for those of you less inclined to inventing and more apt to bust out the spring cleaning supplies (and a camera), they've also announced a new promotion entitled "Do It Yourselfie!" For the duration of the contest, March 2 to March 27, 2015, their photo judges will be looking for you to display your dedication to your craft (water or otherwise). So get a picture of you scrubbing that deck, removing barnacles from the hull, or installing your new docking lights. Make sure your face is visible and caption it with how West Marine could lend you a hand.

For pointers and how-to lists, head over to westmarine.com/spring-prep and take a gander at their guides. You'll find lots of guides and walkthroughs for many popular boating projects like painting and hull repair, as well as other more in-depth features.

To enter, use Instagram and tag your photos @westmarineinc or through Facebook at facebook.com/WestMarine and use the hashtags #diyselfie and #westmarine. Every week they'll pick a winner to receive a $250 gift card that can be used at any West Marine retailer. Winners will be contacted through Instagram or Facebook, depending on where you submitted the photo, and will be emailed the electronic gift card.

The judges are specifcally looking for people working on boats, so, you know, make sure of that. Note: you don't need to own the boat in the picture, but do make sure you have the rights to any pictures you submit. So get to fixing up those boats!
