What You Need To Know
When it comes to innovation, it seems like JC Manufacturing is always looking for ways to make the pontoon experience even better. The 24 SportToon is a perfect example of what out of the (pontoon) box thinking and engineering can do to make these crafts more user-friendly.
The Highlights
At the elevated helm platform is a fully-loaded dash console with large multi-function gauges, rocker switches and everything the driver needs—including access to the upgraded Bluetooth-capable Clarion stereo. Directly in the center is a secondary multi-function gauge that was added to specifically monitor the new Evinrude G2 E-TEC outboard.
From the captain’s flip-up bolster chair that slides, swivels and reclines you can also control the electric-powered bimini top, which raises and lowers with a simple press of a button. Another great option onboard is the MIST-er-COMFORT system that includes a two-zone misting spray for both the bimini and the floor. This is another example of how JC looks for ways to make boating more comfortable and with the plush Seagrass flooring, the misting system is going to feel great on those hot summer days.
One of our favorite features is something this manufacturer has been offering for years, yet we still feel it deserves some recognition, and that’s the deluxe flip-top for the helm. Similar to the way your hood works on your truck, the helm stand hinges up to provide easy access to the wiring for your gauges and is like nothing else in the industry.
Across from the helm is a reclining first-mate chair, complete with flip-out leg support. Rated for up to 15 people, it’s easy to find a comfy seat on this boat and if the first-mate chair is taken, one of the two bow chaise lounges with head rests and movable arms will certainly work.
Behind the helm is a three-quarter long bench seat and built into the back is a pop-up changing room that stands over five and a half feet tall when open. This area doubles as a storage box and it’s also where the freshwater tanks are stored for the misting system, not that you really need extra storage room considering this ‘toon also offers an in-floor ski locker that is six feet long and 12 inches deep.
Worth noting is the new JL Audio 8.8 series speakers, dual swim platforms in the stern with telescopic boarding ladders and a large ski/tow bar.
Inspection Notes
Three high-volume U-shaped pontoons that are 24 by 24 inches in diameter are the base for this boat, and there are lifting fins on the inside of the outer tubes and on both sides of the center pontoon. The pointed bow has been extended, which helps create a lot of extra room onboard.
New for 2015 you can now add custom accent panels in a variety of colors to the exterior, which when combined with the already powder coated rails, provide a unique look specific to the owner. Also worth noting is the stainless rub rail around the perimeter, as well as the fiberglass bow pods that only add to the high-end feel.
Performance Evaluation
With the new Evinrude G2 E-TEC on the back we were impressed by not only the top speed, but how quickly we were able to go from zero to 20 miles per hour. Plus she dives into some very sharp turns with complete control, which makes this JC extremely fun to drive.
Our Take
Built to last, the innovative and family-friendly layout is safe and loaded with just the right mix of standard and optional features as-tested.

Why we love this boat…User-friendly is probably the best way to describe this JC because it’s designed to help make your boating experience as enjoyable as possible.
Just being picky…We’d like to see the multi-function Evinrude gauge located in a more permanent-looking location on the helm, but we realize this is a very new engine system.
