Veranda Luxury Pontoons has bought the former General Cable plant in Hot Spring County, Ark. The 377,000 square-foot facility will allow the pontoon builder to increase production.

Veranda is the sister company to Xpress Boats, a 53-year-old, family-owned company that builds aluminum fishing and hunting boats. Veranda uses a patented interlocking deck system to build its pontoon boats. The company is 12 years old.

“Veranda employs a patented, all-aluminum system that’s completely wood free,” said Rory A. Herndon, Veranda president. “We are one of the fastest-growing companies in its category. This new facility will allow us not only to expand our business and provide more product to our dealers, but most importantly employ hundreds of new and talented craftsmen and women from our community.”

Herndon added that the new facility will allow it to expand its manufacturing efficiencies while facilitating long-term growth.
