The program is called MVP-"most valuable protection."
"People are really starting to count their warranties," said Lou Vazquez, director of marketing and dealer development, in a telephone interview.
Vazquez says consumers are demanding the same all-inclusive coverage they get from auto manufacturers.
In the auto industry, a customer takes a warranty issue to his or her dealer, and the dealer works with the car manufacturer to resolve it. In the marine industry, however, warranty coverage typically is more fragmented. Dealers often find themselves battling with multiple manufacturers and vendors, depending on the problem, which leaves customers with long wait times.
"Monterey Boats handles all warranties internally," said Vazquez. "That consumer experience is what dictates brand loyalty."
Monterey's MVP program offers the following:
? Limited lifetime hull and deck protection (transferable for up to 10 years);
? Comprehensive gelcoat finish protection (including crazing, stress cracks and air voids, blistering for up to five years);
? Upholstery coverage (including material and workmanship defects, seam tears and thread separation); and
? Canvas protection (through partnership with Sunbrella - canvas is protected against fading, loss of color and/or strength for five years).
