Genmar says layoffs are not `imminent'

January 2009 News

"There are a lot of fallacies in [the article]," division president Al Kuebelbeck told Soundings Trade Only last week.
The St. Cloud Times reported recently that the boatbuilder is planning to lay off an unspecified number of employees this week. The newspaper said Kuebelbeck would not give a number because the company is "in the process of doing a review" and would know more by the end of the week.
"We're managing our business like any other through these tough times," Kuebelbeck told Soundings Trade Only. "We have had some layoffs in the past, but there's nothing imminent, like the article implies."
